In 2008 the North East was named 'most exciting, beautiful and friendly region in England', for that reason alone many people are now fighting to get into the North East to live and work.
The North East of England is famous around the world, most notably Newcastle upon Tyne and their famous hospitality, along with the Newcastle Brown Ale.
Newcastle is mainly associated with the Bigg Market and the Quayside, the nightlife is second to none and with probably the biggest variety of bars & clubs in the United Kingdom. Newcastle is also known for the Great North Run, started by Brendan Foster in 1981, attracting tens of thousands from all over the world.
In Gateshead you can find the Angel of the North, Sage Gateshead, Baltic Keys, Metro Centre, Team Valley, International Stadium and many others.
Sunderland is known for the Vaux breweries, and its proud mining traditions, back in the 1980's & early 1990's it was known for Roker Park, the former home of Sunderland FC. Nissan has a factory in Sunderland (Washington); it’s the largest plant in the United Kingdom and the most productive in the full of Europe, having made its 5,000,000 car in June 2008.
