The North East of England is famous around the world,most notably Newcastle upon Tyne and their famous hospitality, along with the Newcastle Brown Ale. It is also home to BBC news, and the Autotrader, which shows how popular the area is with large businesses and media providing a series of North East England news channels and papers.

Between the Newcastle and North Tyneside boundary lies the Ministry Government buildings, it is said over 10,000 staff work at the site for both HMRC and DWP.

Newcastle is mainly associated with the Bigg Market and the Quayside, the nightlife is second to none and with probably the biggest variety of bars & clubs in the United Kingdom. Newcastle is also known for the Great North Run, started by Brendan Foster in 1981, attracting tens of thousands from all over the world.

In Gateshead you can find the Angel of the North, Sage Gateshead, Baltic Keys, Metro Centre, Team Valley, Gateshead International Stadium and many others.

North East England volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to help us build the biggest database on history in the North East of England, at present we have very basic documentation on so very little landmarks and areas.

What we are looking for is volunteers to help us by suggesting landmarks or places on interest, and for those who love to write we would be over the moon if you shared some of your knowledge and you will get full credit on the relevant article.
